Well gents...and if there are any ladies out there smile I have found a problem with my TVR...seats!

So the story is like this...no issues with back or neck and then I get the TVR. I drive her everyday and noticed my back and neck hurting after a bit. I took two week business trip and my back and neck started to feel better. I sit down in the car again and notice how the lumbar support is pushing on me back and the head rest is pushing my head forward...the problem...the stock seats. I have had a few sports cars in the past and never an issue with long drives or driving everyday. So, I have been looking and other TVR seats are a bit out of my price range. So, I came across a set of Gen 7 Celica seats. Not too expensive, sat in them before on drives and well...what does everyone think?

Look a bit "modern" but, hey what the heck, if they mean you can enjoy and use the car more go for it (them?).

I actually find my S seats very comfortable, various Eurotrips and a 1000 miles just the other weekend up to and around Scotland no problem.

They look good. What subframes do you use or are they a similar flatish floor fitting?
They old favourite . Much discussed on here are the Mk1 MX 5 seats like I have fitted on recommendation from several others on here. .
Your comfort when sat in your S is more than just important. !

The Celica ones look a little wide to me? Might fit though I have mx5 mk3 in mine and they are great.

Other advantage of mx5 is they bolt in with just a little drilling.

I have seen the MX5 seats before...and the cost was the main factor, but maybe my searching terms were not correct as I am seeing some good seats for about the same cost...also, sweet looking too!

As for the celica seats, I don't know just seeing what's out there smile

Just have to keep an eye out...the good ones on there are busted on the sides...but I have been checking the seats out for quite a bit...just another item to add to the list smile

Some even come with built in speakers in the headrests. I am sure there is a specialist breaker of these cars who sells loads of seats on fleabay, although mine was a private sale.

Jag XJS work for me. Leather colours match TVR. And prices OK with a bit of searching. Mine were less than £100 for the pair

I always found the S seats to be some of the most comfortable.

If they are not comfortable for you then the most important thing will be to find a seat that is comfortable for you. Since the std seats are fine but as everyone is different you need another seat which is fine for you, and not necessarily for anyone else.

Well put...in the end I will be the person driving...but I do agree with the classic look over the modern...but I also like where I am at to be the best...and the looking continues

I just wondered if the original S seats you have are in good condition? Have you had them out? The tensioning system underneath isnt good and, if they are original, I would be very surprised if it was in good nick. Similarly the foam will almost certainly have deteriorated. Similarly the back support may well have come adrift, mine had.
Might be worth going to a good auto trimmer and asking his opinion? My seats are pretty good (and I have a long term bad back issue) but they have been rebuilt.
I am not sure how tall you are but I did a few experiments and finished up lifting mine by 20mm to get a slightly better driving position.

I am in the process of having my S seats recovered. And my first proper drive in the car was from Sheffield to Murcia in Spain, and I found the seats to be very comfortable ( no aches or pains ) So for me the original seats are spot on!

These are Cerbera seats. They have pump up lumbar support and are fabulously comfortable.

Positives:
Straight drop in, exactly the same runners & bolt holes.
Loads of side support.
Adjustable lumbar support.
Look fantastic (IMHO).
Head rest at the right (safe) height.
Being higher the long seat belt clip issue goes away.

Negatives:
Expensive!
The seat cushions are thicker so you sit higher. They probably wouldn’t work for anyone over 6’ (although I did use a thick spacer.
When pushed right back they touch the seat belt drum, but you’d need very long legs for this to be a problem, and there is a fix.
Same sliders as the ‘S’ so they will wear the same. Get some low millage ones if you can.

I've got the same £20 from the scrap yard, however I may put the originals back in as there a bit high.
